For psychologist James Hillman, the psyche has multiplicity in the form of archetypal energies or patterns, and their primary language is the metaphorical discourse of myths. Seeing archetypally can help bring one into conscious relationship with these images and patterns which often unconsciously determine one’s emotional responses, thought patterns and behavior.
In this presentation, we will look at two archetypal psychopomps, those that guide and escort souls into the afterlife, from Western mythology and on to how they can manifest for people who are dying and death doulas.
