The Philemon Foundation‘s next public webinar, on September 27, offers a rare early look at material that hasn’t yet seen publication. Christopher Wagner presents on the eighth volume of Jung’s ETH Lecture Series, drawn from lectures Jung delivered at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich in 1940-41, during the period when alchemy moved to the centre of his psychological thinking. Unlike the more familiar Collected Works, these lectures remain far less widely read, offering what Wagner describes as one of the most accessible entry points into Jung’s alchemical thought, tracing the symbolism of transformation through a wide range of alchemical texts and imagery.
Wagner, whose doctoral research focused on the foundations of Jung’s alchemical thinking, is currently editing two other unpublished Jung seminars for Philemon, the 1923 Polzeath Seminar and the 1925 Swanage Seminar. The webinar follows the Foundation’s July session continuing its ongoing series bringing unpublished and lesser-known Jung material to a wider audience.
The webinar commences at 7pm London time and is free for anyone who has donated $125 or more to Philemon since 2025. Tickets for others are $40, with advance registration recommended. As with previous sessions, no recording will be made, so this will be a one-time opportunity to hear the material presented live.
