She worked at the University of Sao Paulo - Faculty of Medicine as a medical researcher from 1997 to 2003, when she was relocated to the Brazilian Ministry of Health as Coordinator of Epidemiology Analysis. She was responsible for the Vital Statistics Systems in Brazil and the project for its improvement. In 2008, she moved to Washington, DC, to work at the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), coordinating the Information and Health Analysis Project. Since 2012, she has served as an advisor for the Regional Health Observatory at PAHO. In 2014, she returned to work at the Ministry of Health in Brazil.
