I offer individual psychotherapy and psychoanalysis to adults of all ages, as well as clinical consultation and supervision. My primary orientation is contemporary psychoanalysis, which is informed by current thinking in the arts, philosophy, science, medicine and cultural studies. I am a Jungian psychoanalyst, certified by the IAAP; my analytic work has been influenced by an ongoing study of the French analyst, Jacques Lacan. I’ve been practicing psychotherapy since 1995. Depth psychotherapy and analysis address emotional discomfort and suffering, covering such things as painful feelings of anxiety or worry, depression, resentment, or emptiness; low self-esteem or self-hatred; unresolved grief or the after effects of trauma or abuse; concerns regarding sexuality; difficulties in relationships or concerns about parenting and family matters; difficulties at work or with career and profession, and concerns regarding artistic creativity or performance. I have worked with individuals with chronic and life threatening medical conditions including HIV/AIDS, as well as individuals from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds, differing sexual orientations and gender identities. Before becoming a social worker, I had a career as a professional photographer and filmmaker, worked as a coordinator of various arts programs, and received my B.A. degree in Modern Dance.

I am a client centered therapist. I don’t presume the answers to your questions but rather encourage you to find your own unique solutions to life’s challenges – which in general arise from unique circumstances. When the opinions you encounter – from friends, family, or even Psychology Today(!) – don’t help, you need a tailored approach.
