Democracy on the Couch conference this weekend

Online conference with many eminent speakers

In a time when global democracies are unraveling under the weight of polarization, disinformation, and distrust, Democracy on the Couch (In Search for the Forgotten Self) offers a timely and necessary intervention. This two-day online conference, hosted by JUNGIANEUM on May 24–25, 2025, draws inspiration from Jung’s The Undiscovered Self to explore how Analytical Psychology can illuminate the psychological roots of today’s political crises—and offer paths forward.

The event opens with a keynote from IAAP President Misser Berg and features 18 international presenters. Highlights include Noa Feuerstein’s Krishna Smiles in Sheikh Jarrah, an exploration of archetypal presence in conflict zones; Paul Bishop’s The Forgotten Self and the Grail, examining the Grail legend’s socio-political resonance; Murray Stein’s The Still Undiscovered Self, advocating communitas as a fundamental Jungian value; and Ruth Williams’ Peace, Clarity, Joy and Kindness, a heartfelt meditation on psychological resilience. You can see the full program here.

This inaugural JUNGIANEUM/Biennale conference moves Jungian thought beyond the consulting room and into the public square. With over 200 already registered and a modest €50 fee, the gathering is a call to intellectual, emotional, and ethical engagement. Neo-Jungians are not content to analyze—they act, inspire, and provoke transformation.

Don’t miss this bold and stirring collective inquiry into the psychological fractures of our time—and how we might begin to heal them. Register now to be part of the conversation.
