It could be said that the psychology of the mandala is the psychology of individuation, since the person immersed in this process begins a journey of confrontation with the contents of his own psyche, focusing on his own psychological processes. There are many reasons why it would be positive to understand the necessity and appearance of the mandala symbol. The profound imbalances and fragmentation of the current collective consciousness “divided by serious tensions and cultural divisions” make the mandala, as an archetype of unity, totality and meaning, appear as a symbol of a collective need. A symbol that contains within it the scattered elements of the psyche, an image that attempts to unite conflicting opposites, a creative matrix from which new values arise that will guide the conscience if it is capable of allowing itself to be guided by them. The mandala illustrates a particular moment along an inner path of self-knowledge.
