Overview

A neo-Jungian approach to Active Imagination

The training course is divided in three webinars. This series of webinars will give participants a more advanced theoretical understanding of I.M.T methodology as well as experiential exercises and clinical vignettes. There will also be time to discuss together as a group.
Participants will be asked to write a theoretical essay (bet. 1500-2500 words) by describing:
a) what is a waking dream in I.M.T.
b) and arguing how I.M.T. integrates aspects from both Jung’s technique of Active Imagination and Desoille’s Directed Waking Dream method.
An Introductory certificate in Imaginative Movement Therapy (I.M.T.). will be provided after attending the three webinars and successfully completing the theoretical essay.
The completion of the introductory certificate training course can lead participants to a 1 year post-graduate advanced diploma in I.M.T. The diploma is open for practising caring professionals in the field. The advanced diploma is made up of a series of monthly theoretical seminars, tutorials, supervision and written work. The post-graduate diploma will enable successful participants to become Imaginative Movement Therapy practitioners.

I.M.T. is a neo-Jungian approach to Jung’s main psychotherapeutic method of Active Imagination. Both Jung and Desoille where pioneers in using the imagination for therapeutic purposes at the turn of the twentieth century.

• The art of starting a waking dream.
• The art of prompting & reparative interventions.
• The art of symbolic elaboration & interpretation.
