Overview
This lecture, drawing on Van Eenwyk’s experience treating both torturers and survivors, examines the dynamics of the shadow – collective and individual – both in the development of cultures of torture and in the treatment of the victims. The aim is to provide those who abhor oppression and terror with the means of confronting and neutralizing their use. Part of the conference set Gold in Dark Places: Shadow Work in the Struggle for Selfhood.
