an IAAP developing group in Athens, Greece
Parent organisation:
The Hellenic Society for the Study of Analytical Psychology is an officially recognized Developing Group , the International Association of Analytical Psychology ( www.iaap.org ) since 2018.
The story of our team, however, begins in 2010. At that time, a team of mental health professionals working primarily in public psychiatric care facilities developed the need to enrich their knowledge in psychodynamic therapies. Group supervision, shared experiences and related interests led to the creation of the first educational team that organized and attended intensive seminars on the Symododrama method (a method of psychoanalyst Hanscarl Leuner that focuses on the healing power of the human imagination).
The main trainer and supervisor of the team was the psychologist Ludvik Betak , who at the same time held the title of Jungian Psychoanalyst. His fascinating look at the human psyche and his unique skill in the art of psychotherapy, planted the first seeds of curiosity for Analytical Psychology.
As the ties of the educational team were strengthened and the practical experience was concentrated, the need to deepen our theoretical and methodological knowledge became more intense. A series of positive times and the support of important people led to the communication with the IAAP and finally to the meeting of our team representatives with Tom Kelly and Marianne Mueller (both former IAAP presidents), in August 2015 at the 3rd European Analytical Conference Of Psychology in Trieste . Under their guidance and the valuable help of the Greek Jungian psychoanalyst Angeliki Pessini , we established our first legal form, formulated a code of conduct for the members and organized the first educational meetings.
In September 2017 we had the official visit of Marianne Mueller and Misser Berg to our headquarters in Athens. On 11/2/2018 we received the letter of official recognition of our Company as a Developing Group. After our return from the IAAP XXI Congress Vienna in 2019 , we were informed that the Liaison Person for our group was chosen to be Marianne Mueller. With her unwavering help and her experienced guidance, we take steady steps in our participation in the world of Analytical Psychology, we build a solid foundation for the education of our members, and the training of Greek experts and the general public in the unquestionably timely view of Jungian approach to modern man.
