When unifying and synthesizing Erich Neumann's varies writings, it is evident that an archetypal developmental relational theory emerges. Jung described Neumann’s theory as faithful to his original writings and as elaboration of them. Further, Neumann’s Eranos lectures elevated
Jung’s psychology towards metapsychology, and were highly appreciated by Jung. Significantly, Neumann’s early life theory, manifest an oblation to Jung and his psychology, as it describes early life psychological development from the Jungian archetypal perspective. In the suggested seminar, we will explore Neumann as an important and relevant Jungian theoretician, an activist, and a creative Great Individual. We will then outline the advanced stages of the individuation process, as he described them in his initial writings: confronting the shadow
and integrating psyche. The second part of the series will explore Neumann’s early life theory to emphasize his important and singular contribution to the analytical conceptualization, the ego- Self axis and its establishment during primal relationship. We will examine the similarities between Neumann and Fordham’s formulations, further supported by Winnicott’s writings, to arrive at a unified Jungian theory of early life
