KINDLE A LIGHT OF MEANING IN THE COSMIC DARKNESS – SOME REFLECTIONS ON THE SEPTEM SERMONES AD MORTUOS

It was a Sunday, January 16th, 1916 when Jung’s house at the Seestraβe 228 at Küsnacht was haunted by the dead. In the late afternoon the front doorbell began ringing frantically, but there was no one in sight! On the following night Jung drew the Systema Munditotius, a cosmology of the Septem Sermones that he wrote down a few nights later. This was a turning point in Jung’s life, in the midst of his work on the Red Book, a new light, indeed, kindled by the dead who came back from Jerusalem where they did not find what they sought.
