Love Inside-Out: Jung’s Black Books as the basis for a new life attitude

Experiences of war, displacement, mass violence and the suffering and chaos that they bring, confront us with a face of humanity which tends to remain hidden during more peaceful times. Such experiences can devastate our private lives and force us to descend into the public arena to give our suffering ear and understanding.
A sensibility to such collective happenings through Jungian ideas, including as these emerge in Jung's Red Book and Black Books can offer a way of facing and dealing with the whole of the psyche and provide wisdom and comfort in dark times. In my seminar I am looking at one of those ideas, the idea of love as this is idiosyncratically and paradoxically laid out by Jung in his Black Books.
