Whether caused by a betrayal, a profound hurt or a toxic relationship, an inner healing of soul may lead to a mended relationship—or, it might demand a radical end. Either way, a grey zone of ambivalence marks the pathway from here to there. The challenge is particularly severe when the destructive person is a parent, so powerful is the parental archetype. This was the case of Laura, raised by a narcissistic, toxic mother. All psychological processes have archetypal foundations. Laura’s relationship with her mother is powerfully mirrored in the tale of Snow White. In my lecture I will draw parallels between Laura’s individual process and its archetypal counterpart.
