On the Uncharted Paths of Imagination. Analytical Training following the Red Book’s Amplifications.

This webinar presents our work teaching Analytical Psychology through the lens of Jung’s Red Book. We started by including imagination in the learning process by following Jung’s visions and amplifications, taking neophytes of Jungian training back to the original source of his imaginings. When the pandemic hit Italy, the seminars provided a container for the overwhelming fears and distress that ran through our bones and lives. On the following mornings, we would share our dreams and amplifications through a Social Dreaming Matrix. This experience of reading the Red Book, structured by the amplifications offered by the images and the notes accompanying Jung’s text helped trainees find their way into theoretical issues. The different layers of amplifications allowed the exploration of the deepest unconscious contents, and the let the unknown emerge, reorganising understandings of the dayworld. Theories acquired an unforgettable personal nuance through active imagination, and shared dreams added the possibility of untangling some of the intricate webs of the collective unconscious.
