The deeper we go within, the more we find our mental and emotional lives to be intertwined with those of others: family, friends, colleagues, those with whom we share close bonds, those with whom we have conflicts, and even the non-human animal world. What is the relationship between the intertwining, often inseparable bonds within, and the outer world, in which we tend to define clearer boundaries – family and social circle, friend or foe, gender, race, and sexuality? Drawing on paradigms of Jungian and archetypal psychology as well as Buddhist notions of form and emptiness, blind passions and boundless compassion, Professor Mark Unno will explore how we can plumb the depths within to navigate our way through the many challenges we face in our time. This workshop will take the format of lecture with discussion including question-and-answer and small group work.
