Toni Wolff And The Structure Of The Feminine Psyche
Toni Wolff was a client, then lover, and intellectual collaborator with C.G. Jung in the creation of analytical psychology. Her ideas profoundly influenced Jung's thinking. and their relationship shaped his conscious and unconscious understanding of the internalized feminine. Wolff developed a theoretical model for the structure of the female psyche based on the concept of the archetype of the Mother-Hetaira on the Relational axis and the Amazon-Medial Woman on the Nonrelational axis. These opposing aspects of the archetype will be discussed in detail and a sandplay case will be presented and discussed in light of Wolff's theoretical model of the female psyche.
Learning Objectives:
- Describe Wolff's contribution to the development of Jung's theory of psychological types.
- List the four elements in Wolff's structure of the feminine psyche and three attributes of each element.
- Give an example of how Wolff's model of the feminine psyche can apply to the interpretation of Sandplay images.
