An Alchemical Journey to Love and Consciousness

Conference this week, 21-27 September at Dimora Casanoja, Italy

Starting this weekend the C.G. Jung Institute of Colorado hosts “Only Separated Things Can Unite: An Alchemical Journey to Love and Consciousness”. This week-long seminar is inspired by Dante’s poetic vision of love and the human quest for deeper understanding. The seminar will explore themes of alchemy, psyche, and the union of opposites. It takes place in the mystical region of Puglia, chosen for its mythological significance and historical resonance with alchemical traditions.

The seminar begins on the Saturday evening with a lecture by Giancarlo Magno, the first Jungian analyst in the Puglia region. His presentation, “Jung, Alchemy, and the Apulian Land: Different Alchemies in Context,” will introduce participants to the rich alchemical history embedded in the region.

The following day, Jungian analyst Lara Newton will guide the group into the world of alchemy with a focus on the relationship between matter and spirit. On another day, the seminar will turn its focus to fairy tales, particularly the Bavarian story “The Maiden and the Devil”. A full day will be devoted to the study of Eros, led by Jungian analyst John Todd.

Interspersed with these deeply psychological explorations will be excursions to culturally and historically significant sites in Puglia, including the ancient Sassi cave dwellings in Matera and the ravine of S. Marco in Massafra.

This seminar promises to be a profound exploration of the alchemical journey to love and consciousness!
