The C.G. Jung Foundation for Analytical Psychology invites you to a creative and insightful film evening, “Jung and Film: The Stranger and the Wanderer,” a special online fundraiser in support of the Foundation’s work. Join us for an evening dedicated to interpreting three captivating short films from the 44th Annual Thomas Edison Film Festival Collection through a distinctly Jungian lens. This event promises a look into the depths of the psyche as mirrored in contemporary independent cinema. The program will feature opening remarks by Jane Selinske, President of the C.G. Jung Foundation, followed by an introduction from the Thomas Edison Film Festival. The heart of the evening will be a post-screening discussion led by a distinguished panel: Jungian analysts Jane Selinske and Heide Kolb, joined by Freudian analyst Nunzio Gubitosa.
The three independent short films are on offer. The first, “Entity”, is an exploration set against Iceland’s dramatic landscapes. It follows the evocative journey of two isolated souls as they discover their boundless inner energy and ultimately evolve into a unified, expressive whole—a journey ripe for archetypal analysis. Next, “6 minutes per kilometer”, by multidisciplinary Atikamekw Nehirowisiw artist Catherine Boivin, immerses the audience in the dreamlike rhythm of her morning runs, echoing the footsteps of her Atikamekw ancestors and inviting reflection on the collective unconscious and ancestral memory. Finally, “Assemblages” is an animation that explores core memories through the objects that trigger them, utilising a mix of digital stop motion, found footage, found objects, and collage—creating a visual metaphor for the psychological process of integrating fragmented memories.
The event will be hosted online, via Zoom. Various donation levels are available to attend the event, and attendees are encouraged to give generously.
