The LIRPA Journal, published biannually by the Italian Research Laboratory in Analytical Psychology (LIRPA) in Rome, presents its 2025 issue with a focus on pressing psychological and medical intersections. This issue features five articles exploring gender-based violence, obesity, inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), alexithymia, and behavioral disorders through a Jungian and psychodynamic lens.
Francesca Perone’s Gender-based Violence examines the escalating prevalence of psychological, physical, and sexual violence, including stalking, over the past decade, highlighting its societal impact and calling for deeper analysis. Anger and Impulsivity in Patients with Obesity Candidates for Bariatric Surgery by P. Moretti and L. Zebi investigates the psychological profile of obese individuals, linking anger and impulsivity to eating disorders like BED (Binge Eating Disorder), offering insights into preoperative mental health considerations. Domenico Ardito’s Assessment and Clinical Intervention in Inflammatory Bowel Diseases presents a single-case study on Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis, integrating psychotherapy to address trauma and dissociation, proposing a model for holistic treatment. M. Capace and C. Ferraioli’s The Construct of Alexithymia explores this emotion-processing deficit, tracing its roots to the Toronto Group’s scale, and its implications for psychosomatic conditions and caregiver dynamics. Finally, Behavioral Disorders by Antonio Grassi et al. outlines a transnographic, psychodynamic play-focused framework for semi-residential care, targeting diverse behavioral issues in a community setting.
