On the occasion of the launch of his new edited book, Stefano Carpani will be in conversation with Andrew Samuels (former Professor of Analytical Psychology, University of Essex), Drs Elizabeth Brodersen, Martyna Chrzescijanska, Laner Cassar, and Huan Wang, to explore and celebrate this festschrift for Andrew Samuels. Dr Kevin Lu – who prefaced the book – will moderate the evening. Special Guests: Dr. Susie Orbach and Dr Tom Singer. This book reunites some of Andrew´s PhD supervisees – scholars trained at the Centre for Psychoanalytic Studies (now PPS), University of Essex, who have adopted a critical, Post-Jungian approach to studying analytical psychology. Carpani offers a new classification – Neo-Jungians of the Essex School – to capture this way of working, one that is committed to cross-disciplinarity, dedicated to engaging psychoanalysis in mutually beneficial conversations – one that has been significantly shaped by Andrew Samuels and Renos Papadopoulous. This book includes chapters that shed new light on Jungian concepts and related fields in its theoretical orbit including alchemy, archetypes, individuation, the role of art, the nature of relationships, and politics.
