The Assisi Institute is one of the longer-standing institutions in the Jungian world, now in its 36th year, and has described its upcoming event as one of the most important in its history. Whispers of Hope: An Intimation of So Much More takes place on June 7, 2026, in Assisi, Italy, and is available as a hybrid event.
The animating question behind the event is drawn from Jung’s Memories, Dreams, Reflections: is the human being truly related to something infinite, or not? At a moment marked by what the organisers describe as ongoing proliferations of violence, discord, and preoccupation with what Jung called the Spirit of the Times, the event asks how we might rebuild the connection to soul.
The event brings together two remarkable figures. Susannah Heschel will speak on Exile and Redemption of the Soul. Her scholarship spans the history of antisemitism, biblical scholarship, and the intersection of Jewish and Christian thought, and brings a depth of historical and spiritual perspective. James Hollis, one of the field’s most beloved voices, will speak on Home: Why We Must Leave It, and Why We Forever Look for It.
The event runs from 3:15pm to 6:00pm Italian time on June 7. It will be presented in English with simultaneous translation into Italian and Russian. Recordings are included for all registered participants. Registration details are available here.
Also from the Assisi Institute This Weekend: Eternal Stories of the Soul’s Journey
For those who can’t wait until June, the Assisi Institute also has a conference running this weekend (May 16 and 17) on fairy tales, soul, and the wisdom of the deep unconscious. Eternal Stories of the Soul’s Journey features Michael Conforti, Rozan Christian, and special guest Jacqueline Dürmüller, an internationally recognised Jungian analyst who lives in the former home of Marie-Louise von Franz and Barbara Hannah in Küsnacht. Dürmüller’s keynote takes Puccini’s opera Turandot as its lens, exploring what turns a woman’s heart to ice, the riddle that costs a suitor his life, and the breaking of a spell that challenges both the masculine and the feminine toward the possibility of eternal love.
The conference is a virtual event, presented in English with simultaneous Russian translation. Six CE credits are available. Registration details are available here.
James Hollis on Jung Platform: A Sale Worth Knowing About
