The Once and Future Goddesses investigates the resurgence of the archetypal feminine within Women’s Spirituality, Mythological Studies, and Depth Psychology. This gathering reflects on the foundational 1970s movement, spotlighting pioneers like Marija Gimbutas, Charlene Spretnak, Maureen Murdock, and Hallie Iglehart, while exploring contemporary developments in these fields.
Saturday’s morning sessions revisit the origins of Goddess history and spirituality with talks like “The Birth of Woman Spirit,” “The Early Years of the Women’s Spirituality Movement”. The afternoon shifts to current perspectives, featuring discussions on South Asian Goddess epistemology and iconography of the archetypal feminine. Sunday morning offers an archival tour of Gimbutas and Christine Downing’s collections, insights into Marion Woodman’s work, and an exploration of the Goddess as muse through four decades of collage and artists’ books.
