AJA an IAAP member & training organisation in London, United Kingdom
Parent organisation:
The Association of Jungian Analysts (AJA) is a society of 60 analysts and candidates based in the UK and is one of the five Jungian training institutes in London. AJA was founded in 1977 under the leadership of Dr Gerhard Adler, co-editor of Jung’s Collected Works, and President of IAAP from 1971 – 1977. Adler and his wife Hella were at the core of a group of analysts who as Adler wrote, “put the archetypal and prospective character of the unconscious into the centre of our clinical and theoretical work”.
While this founding statement situates AJA in the classical Jungian tradition, contemporary AJA analysts draw on and synergise all three traditions identified by Andrew Samuels – classical, developmental and archetypal. AJA’s training faculty are drawn from other IAAP organisations thus helping to foster a pluralistic Jungian perspective.
AJA members have made significant contributions to the Jungian world. In addition to Adler himself, several other AJA members have contributed to Jungian literature including Jules Cashford, Gottfried Heuer, Dale Mathers, Ruth Williams, amongst others. We should also include our honorary members Anne Baring, Andrew Samuels.
Many of our members have been participating in Developing Groups in Russia, Ukraine, Poland and elsewhere for a number of years. We have also had input into the IAAP Ethics Committee. Now we feel is the moment to take a more active role in IAAP.
