Lecture: Friday 7pm – 9pm
Explore the myth of Psyche and Eros: their story, ageless and eternal, takes us on the soul’s journey of instinctual sexuality and its spiritual potential. It is through betrayal, loss, surrender, suffering, and discovery that Psyche conceives and gives birth to hers and Eros’ daughter, Pleasure. In our imagination, our dreams, in our experiences as individuals and as a collective, we can become more conscious of the sexual instinct and its significance in the process of individuation. Myth, music, art, and film will endeavor to honor the erotic psyche and the value of instinctual sexuality in one’s individuation process.
Workshop: Eros, Psyche and their Daughter Pleasure | Saturday 10am – 1pm
Join us for deep and personal exploration of the erotic psyche, building on the Friday evening Lecture. Eros and Psyche’s daughter, Pleasure, is conceived in the darkness of instinctual sexual experience, develops throughout Psyche’s suffering and completion of Aphrodite’s tasks, and then is born after Eros returns to Psyche and takes her to Olympus. Using the archetypal background of the myth, we’ll explore the more personal manifestations of its effect and potential. Discussion and directed exercises will be invited as we delve more deeply into the material presented in the lecture.
