The story of surviving childhood and institutional psychiatric abuse to becoming a leading psychotherapist in Lora DeVore’s new memoir.
In this online inspiring event, Lora will draw from her newly released autobiography which tells her harrowing story that traces a life born into poverty to surviving child abuse, sex trafficking, illegal pharmacological drug research, and institutional abuse. She would not have survived but for the courageous nurse who fought for her release. Today, Lora joins us as a leading psychotherapist and educator.
In a conversation with Dr Ursula Wirtz, Jungian Analyst, lecturer, and supervisor, Lora will reflect on her traumatic experiences and her path to healing. Their discussion will be followed by questions from the audience.
Lora’s book Darkness Was My Candle: An Odyssey of Survival and Grace gives insight not only into how someone survives complex traumas but also how they are able to move beyond post-traumatic growth to living an inspiring life of meaning and purpose.
We invite therapists, counsellors, coaches, social workers, doctors, and teachers as we look into the transformational process of dying and becoming. Lora’s experiences illuminate and validate the power of love and the strength of the indomitable human spirit that lives within each one of us.
