The Slovenian Association for Analytical Psychology (SZAP) invites the public and professional community to its inaugural international conference, titled “Dr. Jožef Magdič Days,” to honor the recently deceased neuro-psychiatrist, Jungian psychoanalyst, and honorary member of the association.
This two-day event, running from Friday, December 5th to Saturday, December 6th, 2025, will mark two significant anniversaries and milestones for the Slovenian Jungian community: the 150th anniversary of the birth of Carl Gustav Jung and the SZAP’s recent acquisition of Group Member status in the International Association for Analytical Psychology (IAAP). This achievement, secured at the IAAP World Congress in August, represents a crucial step toward establishing official training in Jungian Analytical Psychology in Slovenia.
The conference will illuminate the fundamental concepts of Analytical Psychology and showcase various methods used to complement analytical work. Special attention will be paid to the philosophical framework of the Jungian method—the process of individuation—as well as the professional and evolutionary aspects of psychology in contemporary society. The program will feature presentations by Tine Papič and Prof. Dr. Stefano Carta, head of SZAP’s professional-educational section. The second day is dedicated to activist projects and the question of how a Jungian analyst can contribute to social change and the common good. This focus includes a special presentation by Dr. Kevin Volkan, who will discuss the important work, Human Aggression, War and Genocide: The Psychological Roots of Violence, co-authored with his father, the esteemed psychoanalyst Dr. Vamik Volkan.
The conference is a free event but requires mandatory advance registration due to limited capacity.
Friday includes presentations on Dreams (Urška Ajdišek), Active Imagination (Dragutin Vučković), Jungian Sandplay Therapy (Natasha Reteyum), and Individuation (Tine Papič), alongside the talk by Stefano Carta on Perceptions, (E)Motions, and the Development of The Personality*.
Saturday features sessions on Psychotherapists and Social Activism (Miran Možina), a dialogue on Collective Memory, Silence, and Borders (Manca Švara & Katja Hrobat Virloget), Stefano Carpani on The Age of Hypocrisy and War as Reset*, and the keynote by Kevin Volkan on Human Aggression, War and Genocide*. The day will conclude with a video on the life and work of Dr. Jožef Magdič.
(Sessions marked with an asterisk [*] will be held in English without translation.)
