Presentation: Friday, April 8 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

Fairy Tales are similar to dreams in their symbolic depth and both require creative effort to fully grasp. They can help us understand our life story if we engage the tales personally. Jungians famously work with dream interpretation. But to interpret anything is to risk being reductive and thinking that we have understood. To be more accurate we focus on dream images and symbols in a feeling and relational way rather than interpretation. We can do the same with fairy tales. When we experience the story through symbols we live more soulfully.  Imagine that. Today we suffer culturally because we have neglected our symbols and have lost the effortless motility of being. A fairy tale can be the medicine needed to get in touch with our instinctive sensibility and feel the wonder of life.

We listen to what the symbols say. This helps us experience a dream or a fairy tale from our source of mystery. They are both relational and come from a unique source, the unconscious. Both fairy tales and dreams are narratives weaving symbols into a felt message that helps us connect the dots of our lived experience.

This seminar will introduce fairy tales that can touch your soul. We will read and explore the narratives together.

Workshop: Saturday, April 9 9:30 a.m. – 12:00 noon

In the workshop you can expect to reflect on how your life is a fairy tale and how all lives are made more meaningful by connecting with symbols. Together we will orient our minds to receiving help from the personal and collective unconscious and nourish our hearts.

Imagination and creativity are keys to wholeness. Fairy Tales are remarkable for having content that tends this across cultures and social conditions. Hold onto your hat and come enter the fascinating experience of yourself.

Learning Objectives for the workshop:
1. Understand, as Jung said, that fairy tales come from the collective unconscious.
2. Apply symbolic thinking to your life.
3. Appreciate how fairy tales and dreams support our unique human development.
