Sandplay is a non–verbal three–dimensional form of psychotherapy used with children and adults. There are different theoretical methods of working with sand and miniatures. Dora Kalff created this method. In this non–directive treatment, the key to sandplay is that the unconscious is invited to direct the process allowing the psyche to be restructured and healing to take place.
Research and experience with Sandplay therapy shows its efficacy in treating complex trauma. As a non–verbal technique, it is ideal for use with children and very successful with adults. Attending this workshop will introduce you to the powerful world of Sandplay therapy through various case vignettes demonstrating how Sandplay helps clients resolve trauma, abuse, and developmental wounding. This session will continue to define what sandplay is and is not, as well as review certain aspects of trauma theory.
