In March of this year the World health Organisation (WHO) launched a new manual to provides managers and others responsible for planning and delivering services with practical guidance on how to implement manualized psychological interventions for adults, adolescents and children. WHO says the manual focuses on “evidence-based psychological interventions£, however its recommendations are biased towards behavioural interventions.
Misser Berg (IAAP President) has written a letter to the World Health Organization (WHO), expressing concern over the exclusion of psychodynamic psychotherapies from the Psychological Interventions Implementation Manual.
The letter, which is countersigned by over 60 prominent Jungian academics, points to the substantial and growing body of evidence that affirms the effectiveness of psychodynamic therapies such as Jungian analysis, The letter urges the WHO to include psychodynamic therapies it in their guidelines to ensure a comprehensive approach to mental health care. This inclusion would enhance the overall quality and efficacy of global mental health services. You can download the complete manual here. You can read the letter from Miser Berg here. |
