Greek Myths: A Jungian Survival Kit for Modern Times

Tomorrow, Saturday 7 June, 1.30-3.30pm EDT / via Zoom

The Jung Society of Washington proudly presents their C.G. Jung Memorial Lecture on June 7, an online event titled A Jungian Survival Kit for Modern Times. This year’s presenter, Jan Bauer, will draw on ancient Greek myths to address modern challenges. She will explore three practical tips: avoiding rigid paths (inspired by temple goers), balancing heroism’s wounds and salvation (via Chiron and Hercules), and embracing lost innocence as a life journey (through Persephone and Demeter).

This annual lecture, emerged from the gatherings initiated by Dr. Elined Prys Kotschnig in the 1960s. Kotschnig was the first Jungian analyst in Washington, D.C. and began organizing gatherings to explore the intersection of psychology and religion. Today, over seven decades later, the series remains a cornerstone of the Society’s offerings. Tickets are still available, and a recording will also be sent out.
