This summer, the Cyprus Society of Analytical Psychology invites you to a vibrant one-day conference, Aphrodite and the Human Psyche: Ancient Myths in Modern Life, held in Limassol and online on Saturday, July 26, 2025. Coinciding with the 150th anniversary of Jung’s birth, this rich program offers a unique opportunity to explore the goddess of love as a living symbol of the psyche—and of our time.
From ancient Cyprus to modern therapy rooms, Aphrodite’s legacy continues to evolve. Join scholars and practitioners as they explore the goddess’s many faces—from her cultic origins and mythic transformations to her surprising presence in panic disorders and addiction. Highlights include Dr Giorgos Papantoniou’s illustrated lecture on Aphrodite as Cyprus’s cultural icon; Jungian analyst Angeliki Yiassemides’ exploration of eros, death, and feminine archetypes; and case-based clinical reflections from Elena Urazaeva and Byron Gaist on Aphrodite’s psychological power in contemporary suffering.
The day ends with art appreciation, group dialogue, and symbolic reflection—a conference shaped as much by experience as by theory.
Whether attending in person or online (€10), this event promises to stir your imagination and deepen your psychological insight. Artists are also invited to submit Aphrodite-inspired works for exhibition.
