On Dreams and the East: A Webinar Exploring Jung’s Landmark 1933 Berlin Seminar

The Philemon Foundation is hosting a public webinar, “On Dreams and the East,” presented by editor Giovanni Sorge, offering a unique window into C.G. Jung’s deepening exploration of Eastern thought and its application to Analytical Psychology. This special presentation focuses on material from Jung’s landmark 1933 Berlin seminar, where he first substantially engaged in a cross-cultural comparison of the individuation process in the East and the West.

The original seminar, delivered in pre-war Germany in 1933 to over 140 participants, marked a critical juncture in Jung’s work. The central themes explored include:

The webinar will be delivered by Giovanni Sorge, an editor at the Philemon Foundation and an independent researcher specializing in the history of Jungian analytical psychology. Sorge has edited the source material for the recently published book, On Dreams and the East, which was translated by Mark Kyburz and John Peck and published by Princeton University Press.
