Asian Women: Jungian Perspectives – A Call for Papers from Taiwan

The Taiwan Society of Analytical Psychology and the Department of Family Studies and Child Development at Shih Chien University have announced their 2026 International Conference on Jungian Psychology, to be held in Taipei on December 12 and 13, 2026. The call for papers is now open, with a submission deadline of September 13, 2026.

Call for Papers

The conference theme invites depth psychological engagement with the lived experience of Asian women across the full life course, from childhood through later life. The organising committee welcomes theoretical, clinical, empirical, and arts-based contributions across three broad thematic areas.

The first concerns archetypes, symbols, and the inner life of Asian women; dreams, mythological motifs, active imagination, and culturally inflected expressions of the feminine, including the mother-daughter dyad, the animus, the shadow, and individuation processes shaped by Confucian, Buddhist, Taoist, shamanic, and other Asian spiritual traditions. The second addresses cultural complexes, family dynamics, and cross-generational transmission. The third focuses on clinical practice, case studies and reflections on analytic work with Asian women. Interdisciplinary submissions connecting Jungian thought with feminist scholarship, anthropology, literature, religious studies, or the arts are also warmly welcomed.

Abstracts may be submitted in Chinese (600–1,000 characters) or English (400–600 words), or both. The review process is anonymous. Results will be announced on October 23, with full papers due by November 6. Presenters who are unable to attend in person may present online. Submission details and format guidelines are available here.

The Conference

Beyond the paper presentations, the program includes keynote speeches from leading Jungian analysts and social scholars from the United States, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Japan, China, and Taiwan; themed forums; clinical case discussions; and poster sessions. The conference’s broader ambition extends beyond the experience of women themselves to the mental health and psychological growth of Asian families across all ages, situating the individuation of Asian women within the wider relational and generational contexts in which their lives unfold.

The conference takes place at Shih Chien University, Taipei City and online. Electronic attendance and presentation certificates will be issued to participants. Further details, including registration, are available here.
